Dr. Vincent F. Macaluso is a neurologist practicing in New Hyde Park, NY. After graduating from Cornell University with a concentration in Neurobiology and Behavior, he attended Georgetown University School of Medicine for his medical undergraduate work. Between first and second years of medical school he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Also during his time there, he became editor of the medical school’s newspaper, The Scope. He wrote a monthly humor column called “From Under the Editor’s Desk”. He remained at Georgetown University Medical Center for his residency in neurology.
He returned to New York and became the director of Neurology at St. Vincent’s Hospital on Staten Island. He then was appointed director of the Stroke Unit at Flushing Hospital in Queens, NY.
In 2004 he went out on his own and opened his own adult neurology practice specializing in multiple sclerosis. He is on the Biogenldec National Faculty and has hosted over 300 patient education programs about multiple sclerosis throughout the country. He has hosted two DVDs about multiple sclerosis medications. He is scheduled to be in the Tysabri 10th Anniversary video. He is also on the scientific advisory board for the Accelerated Cure Project which is a national organization dedicated to finding the cause of MS.
He lives in Douglaston, NY with his wonderful wife Lauren Macaluso who trained as a pediatrician and now exclusively practices Breastfeeding Medicine. The Macaluso’s have two children, Abigail and Vincent.
He takes Tysabri to slow down his MS and runs a couple of miles every other day to stay in shape so he can keep up with his wife and kids.
